| Sydney to Forster | ||||||
| We left Sydney, on Saturday, September 23rd, by jumping in our 1985 Ford Fairmont Futura Station Wagon, that we hope to sell when we get to Darwin (our eventual gateway to South East Asia). We are drving up the East Coast of Oz (The Gold Coast) and hitting different coastal towns along the way. The first such coastal town was Forster. We stayed at a place called the Dolphin Lodge for two nights. It is a hostel and our own double room cost $42.00 (Australian) per night. The first night we got in, we watched the Olympics in the common room with a couple of guys from Britain who were also traveling around the world, going the other way. Sunday, the 24th, we went to Forster Beach for a while and then went on a hike to One Mile Beach which is just awesome. There was a huge sand hill that you climb down to get to the beach and climb up to get out. The "up" part was a real tough climb. Our lungs were just heaving for air at the top, especially Joel's, who tried to run to the top. Monday, the 25th, we took off for Port Macquaire. |
