Copying Important Data

When you are traveling extensively, like we are, it is a good idea to copy all important data and keep it in a safe place where you can get your hands on it in case of an emergency.

We are going to make 2 copies of our passports, vaccination cards, drivers licenses, social security cards, birth certificates, credit cards, airline tickets and travelers checks.

Also on these data sheets will be any important pin numbers, passwords and contact information to our credit card and bank accounts and contact information of people to call in case of an emergency.  We are going to leave a copy of all this data with someone Lisa trusts and someone Joel trusts (we can't tell you who or we would have to kill you).

We hate to be negative, but in this case, it is a good idea to plan for the worst.  We heard about a guy who got a ride from some guys in Turkey.  They seemed like nice enough fellows and they offered him a Coke.  What this guy didn't know was there was a "mickey" in the Coke and after he was knocked out by it, his new "friends" stripped him naked and left him by the side of the road.

The odds of something like this happening are slim, but if it did, at least we could get a hold of all our important data.  (Although we may look a little funny walking around naked.)
