Hello Everyone! We are in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Since our last email, we continued north through Thailand. After a few days in the wild and crazy city of Bangkok, we headed east, by land, into Cambodia. The travel guide books will tell you that the Temples of Angkor and the revitalized capital city of Phnom Penh are Cambodia's major draw cards, and they were awesome. But for us, the best part of Cambodia was the people. The people of Cambodia are friendly, warm and genuine. The have come through decades of incredible hardship, still wearing a smile. You can check out all the details of our travels in Cambodia, specifically, in our journal entry: http://joelsward.com/lisaandjoelsexcellentadventure/cambodia.html After cutting across Cambodia, while experiencing our most hard-core land travel to date, we crossed into Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City is a hustling, bustling mixture of East meets West, old clashing with new and traditional ways dealing with the onslaught of the modern world. Since arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, we have toured the War Remnants Museum (a sobering reminder of the horrors of war), checked out the Jade Emperor Pagoda and slithered through the Cu Chi Tunnels (see attached picture), plus much more. Our journal entry: http://joelsward.com/lisaandjoelsexcellentadventure/vietnam.html will have the rundown of our time in Vietnam. When viewing the journal, be sure to click on the colored words for cool pictures to go along with the text. Next, we plan on heading north through Vietnam, then west through Laos into Northern Thailand before returning to Bangkok -- all by land. It should be interesting so stay tuned to our around the world adventure, by viewing our web site. We hope all is well with everyone. Take care.
